WHY READ THIS BLOG POST?
This post is a full review of Bonjoro – the video-based ‘fan creation’ app that promises to be a game-changer. In this review, you will learn what Bonjoro is, what it does and how it can help your e-commerce business be better than the rest. There’s no fluff, just my honest review.

If there’s one thing that frustrates me about being a customer it’s the fact that I get taken for granted by most companies. Like you, I get treated like an order number or an email address.
From the point I hand over my hard-earned cash, companies just don’t see to give a crap about me. They take my money, send my goods (usually in some sort of bog-standard, unimaginative packaging) and then proceed to bombard me with untimely emails for the next 3 months until I get so annoyed, I hit the unsubscribe button.
Sometimes, I feel like cheap date. Used, abused and kicked to the curb.
Where has the thought and creativity gone? Or, as the Black-eyed Peas said, where has the love gone?
Why can’t companies just do something that makes me feel a little bit, well, valued.
For Christ’s sake. I want to feel special. I want a company to say:
Matt, you mean the world to us.
Yes, we’ve got your money but we’re going to take you for granted. We’re going to give you a shit-ton of value in return. We want you to stay for a long time and we promise we’re going to work hard to make you feel special.
Unfortunately, back in the real world, very few companies think that. Once they got your money they forget all about you until they want more of it.
There is usually an immediate lull once I’ve handed over my cash. Sometimes I feel like it’s gone into a black hole and I get bugger satisfaction from it.
The purchase that should be special just isn’t. I don’t feel warm and fuzzy inside. I rarely get that ‘kid in a sweetshop’ level of excitement that I used to get when I purchased a new pair of trainers sporting an over-engineered air bubble, back in my teens.
These days, shopping is a bit of a chore. Even for things that should give me a little dash of excitement its a totally emotionless experience. It shouldn’t be like that.
When I spend 200 quid on a pair of earphones, I should get that buzz that I’m about to be blown away. It shouldn’t be the same emotionless feeling I get from buying a 20 quid pair at my local supermarket.
There’s a real lack of a personal touch that is missing.
Well, if you feel the same then the chances are your customers feel the same too. You need to address it and you need to do something about it.
Is Bonjoro the game-changer?
About 7 months ago, Bonjoro landed on my radar and I’m bloody glad it did.
Bonjoro is number 2 on my favourite e-commerce tools list that I’ve really fallen in love with. Yes, that sounds very geeky and sad but there’s a very good reason for it.
Let me explain.
As an e-commerce store owner, you need to do everything you possibly can to win customers, impress them and keep them. This isn’t an easy job by any means. It’s toughest part of e-commerce.
There is a lot of noise out there from all the other companies fighting for your space on the proverbial dance floor. People are also busy, really busy. Capturing their attention has become a real art because we are all conditioned to cut out the noise and only interact with brands we know, love and trust.
But loyalty is by no means a foregone conclusion. Loyalty has to be earned from the very moment your customer completes their first purchase.
In my line of work, I see a lot of apps and softwares come and go. I get asked to trial, test and endorse many different apps on a weekly basis. Most are for SEO, some for social media and others are generally email-related. Usually, I decline because I don’t like being forced into trying a tool. I’m one of those people who likes to stumble across them myself.
I was never asked to trial Bonjoro. I first heard about it when listening to Pat Flynn’s excellent Smart Passive Income podcast (listen to it. The guy is bloody awesome). The idea of using technology to add a real personal touch sounded great. I knew I had to give it a go.
Bonjoro creates impact

Why do you need Bonjoro in your life?

How to use Bonjoro to build loyalty
We should all be focused on building loyalty. Loyalty done right is easy sales.
Why chase the next new customer every time when you can generate sales from the people who already know you?
I’m currently thinking of new ways my own client’s stores can create more of a buzz with Bonjoro. Some examples I will be getting up and running are:
- ‘Surprising and Delighting’ first-time purchasers with a thank you
- Making new subscribers feel more welcome by asking them to join your community
- Thanking your best, most loyal customers for being a VIP
- Updating specific customers on events like product launches
- Stopping people from cancelling by sending them a personalised ‘can I help you?’ message
- Sending a personalised message to lapsed customers
- Encouraging specific people through your marketing funnel (e.g if they fail to read a particular email)

Bonjoro integrates with the popular e-commerce platforms, CRMs and Email broadcast platforms, either directly or via a 3rd party app connector like Zapier. The beauty of this is that you can automate the process when people sign up to your email list or place an order.
So, for example, you can set a set of Bonjoros to go out as part of your onboarding or welcome series. Imagine, a personalised email going out to keep people engaged every other email. Yes, it may take a little bit of work but it’s worth it for your top tier customers.
I’ve got mine hooked up too Active Campaign (My other favourite tool) so I get a notification to send a Bonjoro every time someone joins my mailing list. I then jump onto it and send my welcome. But, I’m planning to do a whole lot more.
Bonjoro Pricing (You can try it for FREE)
Bonjoro is free to get started. Their trial is unlimited though so you can send as many Bonjoros as you want for 14 days. If you desired, you could send 1,000 Bonjoros a day in that time. There’s no limit.
If you’re a small business and haven’t sent 15 Bonjoros in that 14 day period then it is still free until you do so. They won’t charge a penny until your 15th Bonjoro has gone.
The free version also let’s you integration with all manner of email programs including Mailchimp, Active Campaign (my favourite), Convert Kit and AWeber.
The paid plans start at $25 a month with CRM integration and full admin features. If you upgrade to $45 a month then you can also brand the videos yourself.
My final thoughts on Bonjoro
What I love about Bonjoro is that it’s fun, versatile and is a refreshing way to surprise your customers. It can be used as a strategic lapsed customer or VIP tool, as well as new purchasers. As an e-commerce store owner, you need to be on top of your most valued customers. Even at the $25 a month version, the impact that this tool can have on your customer happiness is ridiculous. The sales uplift will speak for itself.
But please don’t think Bonjoro is just for the onboarding side of things. It’s much more than that and it goes beyond your funnel. You should make it part of customer retention plan.
Customers want to be loved over and over again. This tool can do that.
Make the decision to be laser targeted and truly personal with your customers, give them regular smile sand create reactions from them. Talk to them and treat them like real people and increase that personal touch.
Remember, you only get one chance to make a first impression. Make sure you do it.
